Validation of the Six Item Screener among English and Spanish-speaking Latinos Lead Investigator: Jaime Perales Puchalt Institution : KU Alzheimer's Disease Center E-Mail : jperales@kumc.edu Proposal ID : 1597 Proposal Description: Latinos with Mild Cognitive Impairment and dementia are under-detected in health care systems. There are currently few cognitive screeners with known validity among Latinos. The Six Item Screener is short and has shown promising diagnostic sensitivity and specificity in other US populations, making it an ideal tool for healthcare systems. The six items from the Six Item Screener are administered in NACC UDS 1-2. The aim of this project is to validate the Six Item Screener among English and Spanish-speaking Latinos in participating in NACC UDS 1-2. Aim 2: We can validate an Eight Item Screener that?s derived from the MoCA using the same logic (Day, Month, Year, as well as the 5 recalled words). This would be from UDS 3.0 and the data can be perfectly used from the way it was originally coded in NACC, so no need for asking ADRCs.
